Pumpkins for Premies :)

I think that Converse should have a new tradition! If I was in charge of coming up with a new tradition for Converse, it would be a pumpkin patch party. The day before Halloween, anyone who wanted to could buy and carve a pumpkin. Then we would put all the pumpkins out on the Quad on Halloween. Halloween night we could put candles or battery-operated lights in them, and have a party!
To take this tradition a step further and make it more interesting, we could make it into a contest. For instance, everyone would have to pay a ten dollar entry fee. There would be a panel of judges, presumably professors, or a vote box for the best pumpkin. The person or group that had the best pumpkin could donate the proceeds to the NICU unit of their choice.
This tradition could also be reoriented around a different charity, or be open to whatever charity the winner chooses to give the money to. I think this would be a great Halloween tradition, and a great way to raise money for a charity of your choice. I thought of Pumpkins for Premies because I'm really interested in working as a NICU Music Therapist. The babies in there need a lot of specific care, and that care is extremely expensive.

  1. I like it! Maybe you could head up something like this as an MHO activity next year. You could even hold a drum circle around the pumpkins...or use the pumpkins as drums before you carve them...
